A Mormon President of the United States?
The thought is being entertianed by no less than the publisher of The Weekly Standard.
Romney, based on his political credentials alone, would seem to be a strong candidate for president in 2008. If the reasoning is true that governers make better presidents than do senators (b/c of their experience running “mini-” countires, then the GOP ought to take a close look at him over Frist, Santorum, Allen and McCain.
The problem wouldn’t be his politics. The problem would be his faith. Would anti-Mormon evangelicals be able to put aside their religious hostility in the interest of finding common ground politically?
